This season, Giuliano Calza brings GCDS home. Literally, into his own home, where the cat Kittho reigns supreme.
Presiding over the runway is Kittho himself, rendered giant by the mastery of Fratelli Cinquini Scenografie, artists from the Viareggio Carnival – a further celebration of craftsmanship and Made in Italy expertise.
The home is the frame and the inspiration: à la GCDS, naturally. Giuliano Calza explores the obsessions and inclinations that creatively ignite him: the bourgeois tweeds of the jackets worn by ladies; the pinstripes that gentlemen rely on; the worn leathers of their rebellious offspring; the velvets of the sofas and the textures of bath mats. The collection contrasts sweetness and seduction, with accessories that bring the claws of domestic felines to human proportions, transforming them into weapons.
The feeling of intimacy offers a new perspective on GCDS. The one that Kittho likely has, through his yellow eyes.
